On November 8-9, 2007 China Institute held the Fourth Annual China Institute Executive Summit at the TimeWarner Center in New York City. This year’s theme was CHINA GOES GLOBAL: NEW PERSPECTIVE, NEW STRATEGY, The 17th National Party Congress: Implications for Business. There were over 175 attendees and the panels ranged from hot topics such as the Environment to Private Equity in China.

VIP Opening and Annual Gallery Dinner
China Institute Gallery celebrated the opening of its international exhibition, Providing for
the Afterlife: "Brilliant Artifacts" from Shandong on February 1st, 2005. This event, held in
coordination with the annual Gallery Dinner, brought Friends of the Gallery
and special guests together for a festive evening filled with creativity and accomplishment. China Institute
is very grateful to the Friends of the Gallery for their continued generosity and support of Gallery exhibitions
and related events.

On Thursday November 4, 2004 China Institute hosted a press conference for Reader’s Digest Association,
Inc and Shanghai Press & Publication Administration announcing an important new publishing venture.
The two keynote speakers were Mr. Sun Yong, Director of the Shanghai Press and Mr. Thomas O. Ryder, Chairman
and Chief Executive Officer of Reader’s Digest. The press conference announced the release of Beautiful
Xiangxi and Wonderful Xinjiang, two new books that were published as a result of a recent
joint venture between the two groups. Additionally, Mr. Yong discussed the role of publishing in China
and the excitement of recent market growth.

China Real Estate Finance
Also on Thursday November 4, 2004 China Institute sponsored a lecture on Real Estate Finance in China.
Speaking at the event were Zhang Xin, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Beijing-based real estate developer
SOHO China, and Jack Rodman, Partner of Ernst and Young Asia Pacific Financial Solutions. Zhang Xin helped
the New York business community to understand the complexities of financing, developing, and branding
real estate in China, while Jack Rodman explained how to get the best value for the dollar on real estate
portfolios that have gone bad.

Consul General Liu Biwei Wishes Happy New Year to China Institute's New Chair

On January 20, just before the Spring Festival - the traditional Chinese New Year - Ambassador Liu Biwei,
Consul General of the Chinese Consulate in New York, met with Ms. Virginia Kamsky, China Institute's new
chair of the board.
Ambassador Liu expressed heartfelt thanks to Ms. Kamsky for her decades-long devotion to the friendship
between the peoples of China and the United States. He also expressed desire to increase contact between
the Consulate and China Institute to exchange opinions and ideas on issues of mutual interest and make
joint efforts to further promote the Sino-American friendship.

Ambassador Liu also presented Ms. Kamsky with a New Year gift, wishing her and
her family a joyful holiday of the Year of the Monkey and wishing China Institute success in its endeavors
in the New Year.
