China Institute During COVID-19

China Institute During COVID-19

Dear China Institute Family Member,

I write to you today, not with feelings of bewilderment and uncertainty but with optimism and joy at how our community has responded, and to thank you for your commitment to China Institute. I am so grateful for our large community of supporters who we think of as our China Institute family.

Together with cultural organizations throughout New York City and across the country, we are all adjusting to a new normal.

While our physical premises may be shut, our virtual doors continue to be wide open, and I welcome you to participate in our programs and courses online! We are already being widely praised for successfully shifting learning from our classrooms into your living room, and our interactive online forums and our programs continue to tackle powerful topical issues with the inside view on all things China.

Keep an eye on our social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube) and your inbox for these upcoming opportunities.

China Institute opened in 1926 and we have weathered many challenges in our nearly 100 years of service to our growing family. Our mission remains strong: to teach Americans about China through our pillars of Chinese arts & culture, business, and education. We will continue to live this vision no matter the medium, and on every platform through which our community has gathered to share, grow, and learn together.

From the entire team at China Institute, I thank you for your ongoing support, wish you good health, and look forward to welcoming you online and at 40 Rector Street at the earliest possible occasion.

James B. Heimowitz
