About the Artists:
Mr. Cake is a NYC-based pop rock band established in 2013 when five cool guys decided to make some awesome music together. Their songs are melodic and catchy with great harmonic backing by keyboard player Shi Shi. If you like the popular Chinese band Mayday (五月天), Mr. Cake is a band you’ll want to discover in 2017.
SungBeats is an award-winning beatboxer from NYC who has been developing his craft for over 13 years. Over the course of his beatboxing career, Sung has accumulated a library of vocal sounds that include percussion, scratches, basslines, synths, trumpets, strings and many other vocal sound effects, to create organic beats and melodies with the human voice. Sung is most notable for winning all rounds of Amateur Night at the Apollo: Season 2014, as well as Kollaboration Star 2014. He placed 2nd in the 2011 American Beatbox Championships and represented the United States at the Grand Beatbox International Battle in 2015. www.sungbeats.com
Kohei Hattori is a guitarist in the up-and-coming Japanese anime rock band The Asterplace. A passionate performer and music enthusiast, Kohei seeks to be a musician who can speak to his audience about issues he cares about, for example social justice and society at large. Kohei is also well known for singing R&B and Soul music. He has performed seven times at the Apollo Theatre, and has opened for R&B legend Case, Lyfe Jennings, Lil Mama and Raekwon from the Wu Tang Clan.
TiA is a Japanese female pop singer-songwriter from Saitama. Discovered and produced by Ryo of Supercell, TiA made her debut signed to Aniplex in 2012 with her single “Love Me Gimme”. She moved to New York City and joined her current record label, Dive II Entertainment, in 2014. She has performed at the Apollo Theater, Carnegie Hall, SOB’s, Cafe Wha?, Prudential Center, Newark Symphony Hall, Juneteeth festival 2016 and McDonald’s Gospelfest 2016.
