A cosmopolitan city dating back 6,000 years, Shanghai is a major financial, trading and cultural center in China. At this lecture, Mr. Chen Xiejun, former President of the Shanghai Museum and Chief Planner of the 2010 Shanghai Expo, will sketch for the audience the history and development of Shanghai and the major national and international exhibitions held at the Shanghai Museum.

This Lecture will be conducted in Chinese, with no interpretation. Free, but advance registration is requested.

上海具有六千年的歷史文脈,有距今6000年前的馬家浜文化、距今5000年前的崧澤文化、距今4000年前的良渚文化、距今3700年前的馬橋文化、距今4100年前的廣富林文化和距今700多年前的元代水閘遺址。

上海有中國民族工業的文化遺存、優秀近現代建築和老房子、名人故居。上海是1986年中國國務院命名的歷史文化名城,上海又是”水系城市”,連接太平洋、長江、黃浦江、蘇州河、湖港灣浜。近年來考古工作取得重大進展的青龍鎮遺址在唐宋時期是有名的“小西湖”。上海的歷史文脈源遠流長。
