Online Immersive Mandarin Summer Program for Children

July 6- August 14, for children ages 2-14:

Give your child the gift of Chinese language immersion this summer with China Institute’s Online Immersive Mandarin Summer Program! Our accredited educators create a fun, interactive online learning experience to engage young students with games, projects, story-telling, music and more. Whether your child is a beginner or advanced student, our online program will help them gain confidence and make significant progress in their spoken Chinese and listening comprehension through direct communication and interaction with their teachers and classmates.

Chinese language learning is a meaningful way to keep your child mentally active, flexible, and engaged this summer, while providing structure to their free time and opportunities to communicate and work together with their teacher and peers. Different options for part-time, full-time, or weekly enrollment are available!

Toddlers and “Little Mandarins” (ages 2-5):

Through music, movement, games, and other interactive, teacher-led activities, toddlers will gain impactful early exposure to Chinese language and culture in an immersive virtual classroom. Our teachers are talented and creative early-childhood online educators, with experience engaging with young children through clear and direct communication, fun songs and dances, interactive animation, and more.

Young children will learn to respond to basic instructions and use simple expressions in Chinese while continuing to develop critical social and emotional skills through communication and interaction with their teacher and classmates.

Children (ages 6-10 years)

In an immersive virtual classroom, students actively participate in exploration and discussion of fun educational themes that explore China’s past and present.

In Session I, “A Tour of China,” students further their understanding of Chinese geography, architecture, and famous cultural sites.

In Session II, “A Bite of China,” students explore the important role of food, cooking, nutrition and agriculture in Chinese culture.

For the final session, “Green China,” students investigate the relationship between traditional Chinese culture and the natural world, while also learning about important issues relating to environmental protection in modern-day China.

In addition to becoming familiar with topics relating to each session, students will learn to express their feelings, preferences, and opinions in Chinese, according to their individual language levels.

Pre-teens and Teens (ages 11-14 years)

In an immersive virtual classroom, students actively participate in exploration and discussion of fun educational themes that explore China’s past and present. The curriculum mirrors the sessions for ages 6-10 years above, but with deeper engagement in materials.

In addition to becoming familiar with topics related to each session, students will learn to read and retell stories, express their feelings and emotions, and discuss opinions in spoken and written Chinese in words, sentences and short paragraphs.
